The Honorable Marin Mrcela
Justice of the Supreme Court of Croatia, and
President of the Council of Europe Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO)
The seminar will focus on the similarities and differences between Anglo-Saxon and continental criminal law and and fair trial procedure . Judge Mrcela will discuss the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and changes in the court practice in Croatia.
Justice Mrcela has his Ph.D. from the Zagreb Law Faculty, University of Zagreb, and was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the American University, Washington, D.C. from 2000 -2001. He is Vice-President of the Association of Croatian Judges and is a Council of Europe Expert in the field of Criminal Law (corruption, organized crime, criminal procedure).
