March 21 & 22, 2017 @ 4:00PM – 6:00PM (four-hour workshop over two days)
West Sylvan Middle School in Portland
Join Classroom Law Project and fellow middle school teachers in this workshop to review the 2016/17 High School Mock Trial Case for use in your classrooms. Registration is free, but space is limited.
Mock trial is an end-of-year unit rich with opportunities for students to demonstrate critical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking skills. Middle school teachers use mock trial to teach about the justice system and keep students engaged through the last days before summer break. During the in-service, Classroom Law Project will provide teachers with an introduction to the case materials and trial process, a three-week teaching plan, and supplemental resources.
Register below for this FREE four-hour workshop (two days).
Landry Lopez v. Buddie’s Burgers LLC, a whistleblower retaliation case involving a college-bound high school student working at a popular local hangout. Did Landry get fired for closing up too early the night of a big game or because he reported a theft as an inside job by the high school’s star athlete? It will be up to the students to prove their cases!
