Unpacking the NEW High School We the People Textbook

July 7-11, 2008 at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort on the Warm Springs Reservation
Learn about civics, government, and the highly acclaimed high school We the People program at a professional development program offered by Classroom Law Project.

Who: High school teachers. This Institute is for newcomers as well as veteran civics educators. Newcomers will gain substance as well as strategies, and veterans will add depth and the tools to deliver it.

What: Daily breakouts, lectures, and discussion groups. Lectures led by popular institute returnee, The Honorable Susan Leeson, formerly on Oregon’s Supreme Count, whose activities include co-authoring the revised high school We the People: The Citizen & The Constitution text. Discussion groups led by experienced mentor-teachers. Two tracks: one for teachers getting started in the We the People curriculum, and another for veteran WTP teachers.

"The Summer Institute was unlike any class that I had ever taken before … The speakers were wonderful, the ac-tivities were engaging and the people who participated wereawesome to get to know and truly learn from …"

"Classroom Law Project creates a wonderful opportunity for any teacher who teaches U.S. history or civics. Upon completion of the course, teachers leave with grade-levelappropriate curriculum, and easy to implement lesson plans. These provide teachers the tools needed to develop a strong unit in the study of the U.S. Constitution."
