During this week of intensive government and civic education seminars, participating teachers receive training on using the We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution curriculum with their students. Newcomers as well as veteran We the People teachers benefit from daily lectures, activities and discussion groups led by constitutional scholars and experienced mentor-teachers.

Summer Institute 2010

Make civics come alive in your classroom with the
We the People curriculum

Who: Upper elementary, middle, and high school social studies teachers

What: Daily breakouts, lectures, and discussion groups. Learn from constitutional scholars, legislators, and others. Enjoy that back-to-student feeling and be stimulated by interesting, rich, and sometimes challenging content. Discussion groups led by experienced mentor-teachers.  Click here to view the agenda.

Special Guest: Dr. Fred Beuttler, Deputy Historian for the U.S. House of Representatives, is no stuffed shirt (click here for his bio). He is funny, engaging, smart and has great stories to tell. He values teachers. He supports your work with the We the People curriculum. And he is this year’s scholar for Classroom Law Project’s Summer’s Institute.

Fred will tell us everything we want to know about the U.S. House of Representatives and then some. For those new to social studies and government curricula, this will be an unforgettable, amazing, rich, and fun experience (yes, fun!). For the AP-Government types, Fred will provide rare insights guaranteed to spice up your lessons. Fred’s lectures will be punctuated often with activities designed for multiple grade levels. There is something for everyone.
