Classroom Law Project holds various workshops throughout the year that help teachers, attorneys, and others prepare students for Mock Trial, We the People (Constitution Team), Youth Summit, and more!

What is democracy without the voice of informed citizens?

A two-day workshop designed to introduce engaging curricula and strategies aligned with Oregon Content Standards.

Participants will learn how to help students develop positive attitudes about authority, justice, and the rule of law; think about the common good; and take action to express their commitment through voting, volunteerism and petitioning the government for change.

Students will learn through mock trials, simulated hearings, discussing timely issues and much more.

Project Citizen: A standards rich, project based, interdisciplinary – and FUN – curriculum

This workshop is for upper elementary, middle and high school students. It is designed to teach responsible participation in local and state government. Students work cooperatively to identify a public policy problem in their community, evaluate possible solutions, and develop an action plan for local government leaders to use in addressing the problem. The work culminates with a class portfolio and mock hearing.

Takes place Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 9am to 4pm at the Oregon State Bar in Tigard.

Rekindle Your Relationship with the Constitution: A We the People Workshop for High School Teachers

A day-long workshop organized so that teachers observe students compete in the state finals of the We the People competition, then participate in an interactive session with other teachers to review, debrief, dissect, and learn from what was seen.

This workshop is held annually at the We the People State Finals.  This year it takes place on Friday, January 22 in Salem.

Mock Trial 101

Mock Trial 101 is a workshop for teachers, attorneys, and others interested in building a Mock Trial program. You will learn everything you need to know to prepare a high school team for Mock Trial competition. This workshop was held on November 7, 2009 at 4 locations throughout Oregon.

We the People Coaches’ Workshop

Review the state hearing questions with Hon. Susan Leeson, co-author of the newly released and highly acclaimed We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution high school textbook.

All teachers, teacher-coaches, attorney-coaches, and other colleagues working with students as they prepare for simulated congressional hearings, both competitive and non-competitive, should attend.  This workshop is held annually in mid-October.
